Appearance of new storage devices, enhanced network capabilities, online backup repositories, and tremendous development of virtualization technologies has challenged our company to re-invent our backup engine, and now we’re proud to offer you a completely new backup imaging technology that includes all you might have expected from a modern disaster recovery solution.
In this service letter we´d like to explain the function of our current backup technology and give you an idea about the benefits.
Backup to VD1 was introduced in Hard Disk Manager and Backup & Recovery 14 as an optional backup feature and with limited functionality. With the arrival of Hard Disk Manager 15 Backup to VD is now the default backup technology, providing the full range of backup related features. And because it combines the qualities of classic backup containers with the flexibility and performance of virtual disks it´s even more than a pure backup!
The new challenge:
Bigger storages, more data, new technologies…
- You get minimized backup storage footprint by applying efficient data compression and inline data de-duplication methods as well as excluding zeroed data blocks and page files!
- Incremental imaging works up to 10 times faster in comparison with the standard backup formats (like old PBF) due to minimizing data processing operations!
- You back up directly to a virtual container of your choice (VHD, VHDX, VMDK, or Paragon’s VHD), which opens up easier P2V migration. If necessary, obtained virtual containers can be attached and used with existing virtual machines with no additional effort!
