Budapest Airport newsletter - 2017/06.

Budapest Airport’s growing Ukrainian union Ukraine International Airlines, the Eastern European country’s flag carrier, yesterday launched its first operation from Budapest Airport with its daily link to Kiev Boryspil. Welcoming the inaugural flight with a ceremonial water arch and celebratory cake, Budapest’s latest airline partner unites the Hungarian gateway with Ukraine’s largest airport once again, having not served Boryspil since 2012.

5 peculiar “must-try” potables for this summer in Budapest

The days when we hesitated to take the first sip from our art-enhanced latte for fear of ruining the pretty foam pattern are long gone, and we don’t even get too surprised if our summertime refreshment comes served in a glass resembling a light bulb. Trends come and go, and Budapest’s best hangouts keep exploiting (or sometimes even creating) them; the BBQ masters of downtown now offer frozen rosé, a cool confectionery serves coffee in an ice-cream cone, and on the Danube shore we can enjoy a sweet and fruity smoothie while some vodka secretly sneaks a wide smile onto our cheeks.

Budapest’s Liberty Bridge is a summer scene again

When Budapest’s Liberty Bridge was closed to car traffic last weekend, jolly crowds occupied the green-hued crossing to enjoy summer’s most anticipated picnic program. Similarly to last year’s community gatherings on the statuesque span, the stunning landmark once again turned into an urban playground with people lounging in hammocks, acrobats performing soaring stunts, children frolicking, musicians playing merry tunes, and group of friends imbibing intoxicating drinks. We present a vibrant photo essay of the high-spirited jamboree as seen by talented Budapest photographer Krisztián Bódis.

5 downtown Budapest parks perfect for impromptu picnics

During the sun-splashed months, Budapest’s public parklands fill with life – couples share romantic moments while strolling hand-in-hand, students read books under shady trees, children run around playgrounds, and elderly people enjoy all of these blooming sights. Passing by these pleasant parks, you may suddenly be inspired to join the scene for an unplanned picnic, and fortunately, many central Budapest parklands are surrounded by diverse eateries that offer all sorts of takeaway meals, where anyone can pick up tasty food and drinks to take for an improvised open-air feast.
