In just a few days (Friday to be exact), I'll send you the second
part of the training. Things are going to get a bit more
practical in section 2 and I want to make sure you get a chance
to jam a bit over the tracks that came with this course - in
particular the "Lone Night" backing track.
As you get familiar with that backing track, ask yourself the
following question:
Am I speaking musically, or am I playing licks?
Is what I'm playing original or have I played this before?
Would I be able to sing the last thing I played if I stoped
playing right now?
As you think through these questions I would love to know your
answer to the following question.
Are your improvisations a direct result of the licks you've
learned in the past or is each improvisation different?
Simply reply to this email and let me know (yes, I'll read them
all!).
In just a few days we'll take a look at ways to reframe our
improvisations so that they really blend with the backing track
you're playing over. In the meantime I would love to know your
answer to the previous question.
