Imagine it.

You’re at your favorite coffee shop…

And at the table next to you, you overhear the following conversation:

“Deer Valley Ground, Cessna 7-5-6-0-0, Romeo 8, requesting taxi,
northwest departure with Echo.”

The other person replies without batting an eyelid:

“Cessna 7-5-6-0-0, Deer Valley Ground, taxi to runway 7 left, via
Alpha Alpha 4.”

The other person nods.

“Taxing via Alpha via Alpha 4, runway 7 left, six zero zero.”

_Huh_?

I don’t know about you, but to me they might as well be speaking in
Greek.

Sure, they’re speaking English.

But they’re talking in a ‘_sub-language_’ we can’t understand.

What is this “sub-language”?

The language of pilots.

And to get anywhere in an airport, you need to speak it.

In 2014, I discovered something similar in the world of job-hunting.

I was revamping my resume at the time, and after days of editing, I
took it to a couple of friends who were hiring-managers for feedback.

As it turned out… they weren’t exactly impressed.

“Rohan,” they told me bluntly.

“No-one cares how passionate you are. We only want to see what
you’ve achieved.”

“See these statements?” they pointed.

“They’re all meaningless without numbers to back them up.”

“And these verbs..” they went on, my cheeks reddening, “They
make it sound like you sat in the passenger seat at your last job.”

It was _mortifying_.

But also, incredibly useful.

Because I got my first taste of the ‘language’ hiring managers
wanted me to ‘speak’ in my resume.

That day was a turning point.

I vowed I’d learn this ‘language’ like my career depended on it.

(which it did).

So I started studying as many great resumes I could get my hands on,
and picking the brains of hiring managers for things I might be
missing.

The result of this process?

A boiled-down ‘language’ of over 25 key things employers look for
in your resume.

To find out what they are…

And to learn how to weave them into your resume the way hiring
managers want to see them…
